Spekit Mascot Evolution

When I joined Spekit, it was immediately clear that Speki the octopus wasn’t just a mascot—she was a phenomenon. Customers adored her, and the Speki plushies we distributed were wildly popular. However, her original design wasn’t sending the right message for a SaaS company. She looked overly childish, like a toddler toy, which didn’t align with Spekit’s innovative and professional brand identity.

Bringing Speki to Life

I refreshed Speki’s design to better reflect Spekit’s evolving brand. The first step was updating her colors to match the refined brand palette, ensuring consistency across all visual elements. I adjusted her proportions to make her feel fuller and more dynamic while adding lifelike details that made her appear more vibrant and real. This new version of Speki struck the perfect balance between playful and professional, reinforcing her role as a unique and memorable brand ambassador.

Expanding Speki’s World

Once Speki’s redesign was complete, her role within the brand only grew. At events, Speki became the centerpiece of our presence, often featured leading the charge in city-specific graphics that connected her to the local audience. We also introduced monthly versions of Speki with creative, themed designs shared with our customers. These became the most-clicked content in our customer newsletter, further solidifying her popularity.

The Impact

Speki’s evolution went beyond her physical design—she became a symbol of Spekit’s identity, joyfully representing the brand’s mission and values. Her refreshed look, expanded role, and connection to customers strengthened her position as the most recognizable part of Spekit’s brand, second only to the iconic pink.

This project was an opportunity to blend creativity and strategy, ensuring Speki wasn’t just loved but also aligned with the company’s broader goals and identity.
